Literary Journal collaboration

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a team of designs in collaboration with the literary department on campus, to compile this literary journal. Together we worked to compile stories, poems, photography, and works of art in one cohesive journal. It was a great experience to work with other designers on one project, and to see how it evolved into the final product. These books were printed and distributed locally for people to purchase. The team also put together some promotional items, such as buttons, postcards, posters, bookmarks, and more.

title pages

As a team, we ended up designing title pages for all of the short stories. Shown above are the two pages I designed and contributed to this journal. The style we chose for this journal was definitely different than what I was used to and it was a little intimidating at first. However, after working with the imagery and letting myself just try something completely different, I found it super rewarding creatively. I felt as if I had tons of ideas and I wasn’t afraid to try something way out there. In the end I think I created some really nice pieces. I also designed the middle spread that is shown in the main photo above. That was a trial of some tools in illustrator with the text, and it made a really cool effect.
